This kit is the perfect complement to Model Smiths’ Position Light signal heads! This kit includes a pre-cut and pre-drilled brass mast, as well as a ladder/platform assembly designed from original Pennsylvania Railroad drawings. When coupled with signal heads of any style, this yields an incredibly authentic model that works perfectly in any HO scale scene!

This kit is intended as an add-on, and therefore does not include the signals pictured. These must be ordered separately based on the requirements of the scene being modeled.

This kit is based on the standard Pennsylvania Railroad 18’ trackside signal mast. Included are all required components except for the signal heads.

This kit is extremely faithful to the original design, with only minor concessions made in the name of strength. The mast is made from 3/32” brass tube, which is only slightly larger than a true scale design. This tube size allows all wires from the signal heads to be managed and routed beneath the layout.

The ladder/handrail assembly features dimensions and proportions nearly identical to the real thing. The one-piece construction makes it easy to install on the mast, and the ladder is already fixed at the appropriate angle.

In addition to these two main components, the kit includes two options for the pinnacle on top of the mast, four options for the base which the mast slides into, two brackets used to mount our signal heads, and one ladder base component.

This kit is designed to work seamlessly with Model Smiths’ models; proper fitment cannot be guaranteed when using models produced by other manufacturers.

This mast is designed based on historical drawings and photographs, and therefore closely matches the “standard” design. However, we know that railroads often iterate designs and implement unique variations based on the specifics of the installation. Therefore, if you require a variation of this mast, we are happy to work with you to develop a custom design!
