HO Scale Color Upper Position Light
These are some of the most authentic functional Position Color Light signals available in HO scale! These upper signals feature red, amber, and green lamps matching the configuration used on the Norfolk & Western and modern Amtrak lines on the Northeast Corridor. Each model features realistic design elements taken from original technical drawings of the real thing. These upper signals are based on the PL-2 design, and feature a scale 52" diameter face. The individual lights and wires are mounted using a realistic conduit "spider", which routes the individual wires out the back of the model.
This signal can be prepared as the full upper head, which includes six LEDs that make up the vertical, upper quadrant, and horizontal positions. Additionally, all derivative forms of this signal are available, which may be more prototypically accurate for a given scene.

Each signal comes with several different brackets which can be used to mount to standard tubing. These brackets can mount to 1/16" tubing (scale 5.43" diameter), 3/32” tubing (scale 8.15” diameter), or to 1/8" tubing (scale 10.88" diameter).
These signals come with a latex masking pre-applied over each lens. This mask protects the lens from paint and weathering materials, making it extremely simple to paint and weather the model out of the package! Once painting is complete, simply remove the mask with a pair of fine tweezers, leaving the pristine lenses underneath.
This model comes pre-wired, so there is no need to fight with small LEDs! Each model uses 38 gauge wires to power the LEDs. On each LED, a red wire denotes the positive anode, and a yellow wire denotes the negative cathode. The wires are approximately 24" long, however the wires are provided trimmed to different lengths to differentiate the different LEDs. The longest wires correspond to the vertical LEDs, the next longest wires correspond to the upper quadrant LEDs, and the shortest wires correspond to the horizontal LEDs. The wires are pre-tinned, and ready for installation!
This model uses 2 volt LEDs rated at 20 mA. To power the signal between 3 and 12 volts DC, 1000 ohm resistors are recommended. Alternatively, the Position Color Light Interface Module can be used to illuminate the model, simplifying the connection process. This module features all resistors and logic necessary to easily illuminate individual signal aspects.
